2020 Program Overview
A. Introduction
Recognizing that Platte County is a growing and dynamic area with a population that demands the highest quality parks and recreation and wellness opportunities, the Platte County Commission has developed the Youth Sports & Activities Grant Program. This program is intended to support the youth sports & activities within Platte County.
B. Administration & Funding
Under the direction of the County Commission, the program is administered by the staff of the Parks and Recreation Department and Board of Parks Commissioners. All applications for funding are submitted to the Department and reviewed and evaluated by the Parks Board. The Board makes recommendations to the County Commission which has final approval authority.
Funds for the program are derived from the ½ cent sales tax approved by Platte County voters in August 2000, and renewed in August 2009. As outlined in the Park System Master Plan (updated in 2009.

Category A- Covid-19 Compliance Expenses
Covid-19 compliance expenses, such as cleaning supplies, masks, disinfectant, barriers and other purchases necessary to keep kids, coaches, and spectators safe. These items can be applied for reimbursement if already purchased by applicant before this grant became available.
Ex. If you purchased face masks for participants at the beginning of May, you are eligible to apply for reimbursement of the purchase with adequate documentation.
Category B- Participant Fees Scholarship Program
Grants will be provided to youth activity organizations to supplement “means based” participation fee programs. We do not want kids to lack the opportunity to participate due to economic hardship. Please include a detailed explanation of your organizations current scholarship program.
Category C- Equipment purchases
Equipment purchases such as pitching machines, soccer goals, musical instruments and other items needed to operate youth activities. Proper price quotes must be included with application.
