Managed by Platte County Parks & RecreationMichael Gunn Park at Platte Meadows, located off Northwest 52nd Street, Kansas City, has been a county property since 2002, and its development was part of the county’s original Parks Master Plan.
Check out the new CASTLE playground coming to town! Anticipated completion is Spring 2026. This project also includes a new shelter and restroom, both expected to be completed by Spring 2026. Through a partnership with the Rotary Club, a new butterfly garden is also being installed at the park.
Join us for the Castle Playground Ribbon Cutting and Grand Opening at Michael Gunn Park @ Platte Meadows on Saturday, May 2, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM. This royal celebration will feature special appearances by Renaissance-themed characters who will help bring a touch of medieval magic to the festivities. Families are invited to come explore the new castle playground, take photos with the characters, and celebrate this exciting new addition to Platte County Parks.
